Oman team examines solar evaporation modulation
Aspects of desalination using concentrated solar power (CSP) are to be researched on Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) in Oman backed by a grant of RO 146,900 (US$ 381,000) from the Research Council.
The CCE research team will be led by Associate Prof Sudhir and with investigators Dr Ravinder and Prof Feroz.
The team will explore techniques to dynamically regulate the evaporation pressure by continuous pressure modulation to optimise the desalination rate in a thermal CSP desalination unit. They anticipate that the developed system will save energy and increase productivity with lower capital investment and operational costs.
The full-scale system will be operational by the end of 2015.
