[영국] 알피어스, 신규 운영·유지관리 계약 수주

영국 광산복구청과 8년간 2억300만 파운드 규모 장기 계약 체결

광산수 처리·지반 침하 대응 등 수자원·환경 보호 역할 강화

영국 전역의 수로와 핵심 식수 공급을 지속적으로 보호하기 위해, 광산복구청(Mining Remediation Authority)은 수처리 및 물서비스 전문 기업 알피어스(Alpheus)에 자산 네트워크의 운영·유지관리·고도화를 담당하는 계약을 수여했다.

 

종합적인 입찰 절차를 거쳐 수여된 이번 계약을 통해, 광산복구청의 광산수 처리 시설, 지반 침하 배수 펌프장, 데이터 모니터링 지점을 대상으로 연중무휴 24시간 운영 지원이 지속적으로 제공될 예정이다.

칼 밴턴(Carl Banton) 광산복구청 운영국장은 “2024~2025년 동안 우리는 총 82개 광산수 처리 시설을 운영·유지했으며, 이를 통해 최대 2천320억 리터의 광산수를 처리할 수 있는 역량을 확보해 식수원과 하천, 해양 오염을 예방했다”고 말했다.

이어 “우리의 광산수 처리 시설은 수자원 보호에 기여하며, 매년 3천682톤의 철분이 영국 전역의 수로로 유입되는 것을 막고 있다”며 “알피어스의 기술적 역량과 사회적 가치 창출에 대한 헌신은, 광산 지역에서 사람과 환경을 위한 더 나은 미래를 만들어가는 데 있어 이 회사를 이상적인 협력 파트너로 만든다”고 밝혔다.

또한 그는 “지난 11년간 환경을 보호하고 개선하는 데 기여해 온 현 계약사 서전트렌트(Severn Trent)에 감사의 뜻을 전하고 싶다. 이들은 높은 수준의 서비스를 제공해 왔으며, 앞으로 6개월간의 계약 전환 기간에도 긴밀한 협력을 이어갈 예정이다”고 덧붙였다.

알피어스에 수여된 8년간 2억300만 파운드(약 4천541억 원) 규모의 계약으로, 알피어스는 광산복구청이 운영하는 82개 광산수 처리 시설과 10개 지반 침하 배수 펌프장에 대한 운영 지원을 맡는다. 또한 700곳이 넘는 모니터링 지점에서 수집되는 데이터 관리 업무도 담당한다.

New operation and maintenance contract awarded to Alpheus

 

To continue safeguarding Great Britain’s watercourses and vital drinking water supplies, the Mining Remediation Authority has awarded a contract to operate, maintain, and enhance its network of assets to water services and treatment specialist Alpheus.

The contract, awarded after a comprehensive tendering process, will ensure ongoing 24-hour operational support across the Mining Remediation Authority’s mine water treatment schemes, subsidence pumping stations and data monitoring points.

Carl Banton, Operations Director at the Mining Remediation Authority, said:

During 2024 to 2025 we maintained and operated 82 mine water treatment schemes with the capacity to treat up to 232 billion litres of mine water preventing pollution of drinking water, rivers and the sea.

Our mine water treatment schemes contribute to the protection of water resources and prevent 3,682 tonnes of iron a year from entering Great Britain’s waterways.

The capabilities of Alpheus, along with their commitment to social value initiatives, make them an ideal partner to help us make a better future for people and the environment in mining areas.

I’d also like to thank our current contractor, Severn Trent Services, for their work over the last 11 years to assist us in protecting and enhancing the environment. They have provided a high-quality service, and we will continue to work closely together as we move through the 6-month contract transition period.

The initial 8-year, £203m contract awarded to Alpheus will see them provide operational support for the Mining Remediation Authority’s 82 mine water treatment schemes, 10 subsidence pumping stations and collect and manage data from over 700 monitoring points.
