주소별 홍수 위험도 확인 가능…부동산 단위 정보 제공

현재 기후·2100년 미래 시나리오 반영한 홍수 위험 분석

그레이터 멜버른 38개 지방정부 대상 사업 일환

멜버른워터(Melbourne Water)는 2026년 6월 중순 바뉴울(Banyule) 지역의 홍수 위험 정보를 제공하는 새로운 웹 기반 지도를 공개한다고 밝혔다.

이번 지도 공개에 따라 바뉴울 주민들은 자신의 주소를 검색해 해당 부동산의 홍수 위험도를 확인할 수 있게 된다. 멜버른워터는 새 지도가 새로운 위험을 만들어내는 것이 아니라 수십 년 된 기존 데이터를 대체해 지역 내에서 가장 상세하고 부동산별 특성이 반영된 홍수 정보를 제공한다고 설명했다.

주민들은 현재 기후 조건과 2100년까지의 미래 시나리오를 기반으로 산정된 부동산별 홍수 위험도를 확인할 수 있다.

새 지도는 국가 홍수 위험 분류 기준을 적용했으며, 우수(빗물)를 고려한 최신 모범사례 기반의 모델링 기법을 활용해 제작됐다. 또한 바뉴울시(City of Banyule)의 도시 성장과 기후변화 영향을 반영했다.

크리스 브레이스(Chris Brace) 멜버른워터 서비스 미래부문 총괄본부장은 "이번 새 홍수지도는 주민들에게 보다 명확한 정보를 제공해 자신감을 갖고 계획을 세울 수 있도록 돕는다"며 "멜버른 전역의 홍수 영향을 줄이기 위한 인프라 투자도 지속하고 있으며, 정확하고 최신의 지도 구축은 이러한 노력의 핵심 요소"라고 말했다.

앨리슨 챔피언(Alison Champion) 바뉴울시 시장은 "명확하고 신뢰할 수 있는 홍수 정보는 지역사회가 미리 대비하고 주택 및 사업장과 관련해 합리적인 결정을 내리는 데 도움이 된다"면서 "새 홍수지도의 공개가 보다 효과적인 계획 수립과 대응 역량 강화에 기여할 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.

멜버른워터는 지도 공개 후 수주 동안 바뉴울시에서 주민 참여 설명회를 개최할 예정이다. 주민들은 설명회에서 질문을 하고 자신의 부동산에 대한 지도 정보를 이해하는 한편 최종 지도 개선에 도움이 될 수 있는 지역 정보를 공유할 수 있다.

바뉴울 홍수지도는 향후 38개 지방정부 지역을 대상으로 확대될 '그레이터 멜버른 홍수정보 프로그램(Greater Melbourne Flood Information Program)'의 일환이다. 이 프로그램은 이미 데어빈(Darebin), 야라(Yarra), 글렌에이라(Glen Eira), 메리벡(Merri-bek) 지역의 새로운 우수 홍수지도를 공개한 바 있다.

한편 멜버른워터는 향후 바뉴울 전역의 하천 홍수 모델을 업데이트하기 위한 추가 작업도 진행하고 있다.

홍수지도는 2026년 6월 중순부터 공개될 예정이며, 주민들은 같은 웹사이트에서 지역 설명회 참가 신청도 할 수 있다.

Banyule’s most detailed stormwater flood maps are coming

 

Banyule residents will soon be able to search their own address and see exactly what flood risk looks like for their property. The new maps don't create new risks – they replace decades-old data with the clearest, most property-specific flood information ever produced for the area. 

Melbourne Water is releasing new interactive maps showing local flood hazard information in mid-June 2026. Residents will see their property’s flood hazard based on projections for current climate conditions and future scenarios to the year 2100.  

The maps use national flood hazard classifications and are built on new, best-practice modelling that accounts for stormwater. The new maps reflect how the City of Banyule has grown and how the climate is changing. 

“These new flood maps give residents clearer information so they can plan with confidence. We’re also continuing to invest in the infrastructure to reduce flood impacts across Melbourne over time, and having accurate, up-to-date mapping is a critical part of that work,” said Chris Brace, Melbourne Water Executive General Manager, Service Futures.  

“Clear, reliable flood information helps our community plan ahead and make informed decisions about their homes and businesses. We trust the release of the new flood maps will support effective planning and stronger preparedness,” said Cr Alison Champion, Banyule City Mayor. 

Melbourne Water will hold community engagement sessions in the City of Banyule in the weeks following the map release, giving residents the chance to ask questions, understand what the maps mean for their property, and share local knowledge that might support refinements to the final maps.  

The Banyule flood maps are part of the Greater Melbourne Flood Information Program, which will eventually cover 38 council areas. The program has already released new stormwater flood maps in Darebin, Yarra, Glen Eira and Merri-bek.  

Further work is underway by Melbourne Water to update riverine flood models across Banyule into the future. 

Maps will be available from mid-June 2026 at letstalk.melbournewater.com.au/flood-information/banyule. Residents can also register for a community information session at the same address.
