[스웨덴] 알파라발, 아쿠아그린과 MOU 체결…하·폐수서 지속가능한 에너지 생산 위해

약 140년의 역사를 자랑하는 스웨덴의 열교환 및 유체 분리·처리 전문 기업인 알파라발(Alfa Laval)은 현지시각 8월 26일 아쿠아그린(AquaGreen)과 바이오매스(biomass)와 폐기물을 지속가능한 열에너지와 바이오차(Biochar)로 전환하기 위해 양해각서를 체결했다고 밝혔다. 이번 전략적 파트너십은 지속가능한 물 및 폐기물 관리 기술을 발전시키는 데 있어 중요한 진전을 의미한다.

이번 협약을 통해 양사는 알파라발의 디캔터형 원심분리기(Decanter centrifuge) 기술의 전문성과 아쿠아그린의 통합적인 건조 및 열분해 시스템을 결합해 △슬러지 탈수 △CO₂ 저감 △탄소 격리 △환경 오염 물질 제거  △자원 회수 등 포괄적이고 고효율적인 솔루션을 제공한다. 

양사는 이를 통해 기초지자체와 산업체가 환경 목표를 달성하는 동시에 순환경제에 기여할 수 있도록 지원할 예정이다.

칼 렌크로나(Carl Rehncrona) 알파라발 비즈니스 유닛 디캔터스 사장은 "이번 파트너십은 혁신과 지속 가능성에 대한 우리의 공통된 약속을 반영한 것"이라면서 "우리는 함께 폐기물을 귀중한 자원으로 전환하는 새로운 기술의 채택을 가속화할 수 있다"고 말했다.

헤닝 슈미트-피터슨(Henning Schmidt-Petersen) 아쿠아그린의 설립자 겸 CCO는 "우리의 공동 노력은 새로운 시장 기회를 창출하고 폐기물 관리 및 활용 방식에 영향력 있는 변화를 가져올 것"이라고 말했다.

예스퍼 얀그렌(Jesper Jarngren) 알파라발 비즈니스 유닛 디캔터스 부사장은 "기존 방식으로는 제거하기 매우 어려운 물질인 잔류의약품이나 PFAS와 같은 미량 오염물질을 크게 줄일 수 있다"면서 "동시에 슬러지를 바이오차와 재생 에너지로 전환하여 자원 회수를 위한 새로운 기회를 창출할 것"이라고 말했다.

이번 양해각서(MoU)는 시장 개발, 기술 혁신, 애프터서비스, 지식 공유를 포함한 공동 활동을 명시하며, 환경 영향을 줄이고 장기적인 지속가능성을 증진하는 통합 솔루션 제공에 중점을 두고 있다.

Alfa Laval and AquaGreen sign MoU to advance water and waste solutions

Alfa Laval and AquaGreen have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in the transformation of biomass and waste into renewable thermal energy and biochar. This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in advancing sustainable water and waste management technologies.

By combining Alfa Laval’s expertise in decanter centrifuge technology with AquaGreen’s innovative Integrated Drying & Pyrolysis (IDP) system, the two companies aim to deliver comprehensive, high-efficiency solutions for sludge dewatering, CO₂ reduction, carbon sequestration, elimination of environmental pollutants, and resource recovery. The collaboration supports municipalities and industries in meeting their environmental goals while contributing to the circular economy.
