스페인의 물·환경 서비스 기업인 아가노바(Aganova)는 최첨단 ‘노틸러스(Nautilus)’ 음향 센서를 사용하여 파리 지역의 8천km에 달하는 상수도관망 전반에 걸쳐 진단 서비스를 제공하기 위해  프랑스 최대 공공 수도서비스 업체이자 유럽에서 가장 큰 서비스 제공업체 중 하나인 세디프(Syndicat des Eaux d'Ile-de-France, SEDIF)와 5년 계약을 체결했다.

아가노바는 여러 국제 경쟁업체와 경쟁에서 기술적 성과가 최종 결정의 70%를 차지하는 엄격한 평가에서 ‘노틸러스(Nautilus)’ 음향 센서 기술이 가장 높은 점수를 받았다.

아가노바는 계약 조건에 따라  주요 분배 지점으로 물을 운반하는 약 800km의 임계 대구경 급수 파이프(>300mm)를 포함하여 파리 지역 상수도관망 전반에 걸쳐 대구경 급수관을 검사할 예정이다. 

이러한 피더 파이프(Feeder pipes)의 대부분은 1960∼1990년 사이에 설치되었으며, 지금까지 상태에 대한 자료가 거의 없었다. 아가노바(Aganova)는 노틸러스(Nautilus) 기술을 사용하여 전체 길이에 걸쳐 피더 파이프를 검사하고 평가하여 갱신이 필요한 부문을 신속하게 식별함으로써 SEDIF가 주의가 필요한 부문의 우선 순위를 정하고 대상을 지정할 수 있도록 할 예정이다.

아가노바의 마르코스 바레라 파릴라(Marcos Barrera Parrilla) 최고운영책임자(COO)는 “이번 계약은 아가노바에게 중요한 이정표”라면서 “아가노바는 프랑스에서 가장 큰 공공 수도 서비스이자 유럽에서 가장 큰 수도 서비스 중 하나인 SEDIF와 협력하게 된 것을 기쁘게 생각한다”고 말했다. 

파릴라 COO는 이어 “이 인프라 평가의 규모는 유틸리티가 정보에 입각한 투자 결정을 내리고 비용이 많이 드는 고장을 방지하는 데 필요한 정확한 상태 데이터를 제공하는 우리 기술의 능력을 보여준 것”이라고 덧붙였다.

파리 지역은 프랑스나 세계 평균보다 누수로 인한 물 손실률이 낮지만, 물 손실량을 줄이는 것은 이 지역에서 증가하는 물부족 수준을 해결하는 한 가지 방법이다. 

OECD는 이 지역이 2018년 대대적인 물 사용 제한과 2022년 기록적인 공급 부족에 이어 대규모 가뭄 사태의 위험이 증가하고 있다고 예측했다. 이러한 위협은 평균 기온 상승, 평균 토양 수분 감소 및 수요 증가의 조합에서 비롯된다.

‘노틸러스(Nautilus)’ 음향 센서는 수동 음향 기술을 사용하며 정상적인 작동 조건에서 공급을 중단하지 않고 트렁크 본관과 같은 대형 파이프를 통해 물의 흐름과 함께 이동하도록 설계되었다. 

이 센서는 고객에게 실시간 데이터를 전달하여 수도관 상태에 대한 지속적인 평가를 제공할 수 있는 소프트웨어에 연결되어 있다. 이를 통해 △외부에서 누출을 감지할 수 없을 때 △공기 축적(에어 포켓) △구조적 조건에 대한 추가 정성적 정보 등을 확인할 수 있다.

검사는 아가노바 팀이 루이사 가야르도 가르시아(Luisa Gallardo Garcia)의 지휘 아래 아가노바를 지원하는 현지 하청업체 테리달(Terideal)의 토목 공사 및 물류 지원을 받아 진행될 예정이다.

Aganova signs five-year contract to inspect water network across Paris region

Paris, France - June 25, 2025. Spanish environmental services company Aganova has signed a five-year contract with Syndicat des Eaux d’Ile-de-France (SEDIF) to provide diagnostic services across the Paris region’s 8,000 km water distribution network using its state-of-the-art Nautilus acoustic sensors.

Aganova beat multiple international competitors to secure the prestigious five-year contract, with its Nautilus technology scoring highest in a rigorous evaluation where technical performance accounted for 70% of the final decision.

Under terms of the agreement, Aganova will inspect large diameter feeder pipes across Paris region water distribution network, which includes approximately 800km of critical large diameter feeder pipes (>300mm) that transport water to major distribution points. 

Many of these feeder pipes were installed between 1960-1990, and until now there has been little data available on their condition. Aganova will employ its Nautilus technology to inspect and assess feeder pipes along their entire length to quickly identify sectors that need renewing, allowing SEDIF to prioritise and target those sections that need attention.

Although the Paris region has a lower rate of water loss through leakage than either the French or global average, reducing the volume lost is one method of tackling increasing levels of water stress in the region. 

The OECD predicts that the region is at increasing risk of a major drought episode, following significant water use restrictions in 2018 and record supply deficits in 2022. This threat comes from a combination of increasing average temperatures, decreasing average soil moisture and increasing demand.

Nautilus uses passive acoustic technology and is designed to travel with the flow of water through large pipes, such as trunk mains, under normal operating conditions, without interrupting supply. Its sensor is linked to software that can relay real-time data to customers to provide an ongoing assessment of pipe conditions. These can reveal:

Leaks not detectable from the outside.

Air accumulations(air pockets).

Additional qualitative information on structural conditions.

The inspections will be carried out by the Aganova team under the direction of Luisa Gallardo Garcia with civil works and logistics support from Terideal, a local subcontractor supporting Aganova.
