물산업 분야 대표 테스트 및 인증 기관인 NSF(National Sanitation Foundation, 미국 위생안전기관)는 한국의 PVC 파이프 제조기업인 피피아이파이프(PPI PIPE Co. Ltd., 이하 PPI PIPE)가 iPVC 파이프 및 이음관에 대한 기존 NSF/ANSI/CAN 61: 음용수 시스템 구성 요소 - 건강 영향 및 NSF/ANSI 14: 플라스틱 배관 시스템 구성 요소 및 관련 재료 인증에 NSF '+ PFAS 테스트' 인증을 추가로 획득한 첫 번째 기업이 됐다고 발표했다.

PPI PIPE는 미국 환경보호청(EPA)이 규제하는 6종을 포함한 총 7종의 과불화화합물(PFAS)에 대해 NSF 내부 테스트를 통과함으로써 이러한 중요한 이정표를 달성했다.

NSF/ANSI/CAN 61은 음용수 시스템에 사용되는 제품, 구성 요소 및 재료로부터 음용수에 간접적으로 유입될 수 있는 화학적 오염물질 및 불순물에 대한 최소 건강 영향 기준을 설정하는 표준이다. 이 표준의 2024년 버전에서는 특정 플루오르화 물질(Fluorinated materials)에 대한 확장된 테스트 배터리가 포함돼 있으며, 여기에는 EPA가 규제하는 6종을 포함한 총 7종의 PFAS가 포함된다.

NSF/ANSI 14는 플라스틱 파이프 구성 요소 및 관련 재료에 대한 최소 물리적 성능, 건강 영향, 품질 보증, 표시 및 기록 보관 기준을 설정하는 표준이다.

NSF Lists PPI PIPE As The First Global Company With The "+ PFAS Tested" Designation For Their PVC Pipe And Fittings Products

NSF, a leading testing and certification organization in the water industry, is proud to announce that PPI PIPE Co. Ltd. (“PPI PIPE”), a South Korean pipe manufacturer, has become the first company to add the NSF “+ PFAS Tested” designation to their existing NSF/ANSI/CAN 61: Drinking Water System Components – Health Effects and NSF/ANSI 14: Plastics Piping System Components and Related Materials certification for their PVC pipe and fittings.

PPI PIPE achieved this milestone by passing NSF’s in-house testing for seven different PFAS compounds, including six that are EPA regulated.

NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 establishes minimum health effects requirements for the chemical contaminants and impurities that are indirectly imparted to drinking water from products, components and materials used in drinking water systems.

The 2024 version of the standard features an expanded test battery for certain fluorinated materials that includes seven PFAS compounds, six of which are regulated by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA).

NSF/ANSI 14 establishes minimum physical, performance, health effects, quality assurance, marking and record-keeping requirements for plastic piping components and related materials.
