오르비아 어드밴스 코퍼레이션(Orbia Advance Corporation, 이하 오르비아)은 9월 5일(현지시각) 전 세계적인 물스트레스를 해소하고 물복원력을 증진하기 위해 마이크로소프트(Microsoft)와 계약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

오르비아는 도시 환경을 위한 '오르비아 빌딩 앤 인프라(Orbia Building & Infrastructure) 솔루션'을 활용하는 다양한 물포지티브(Water Positive) 프로젝트를 통해 2030년까지 소비량보다 더 많은 양의 물을 보충한다는 목표를 달성하기 위해 마이크로소프트를 지원할 계획이다.

이번 계약의 일환으로 첫 번째 프로젝트는 브라질 상파울루 캄피나스(Campinas São Paulo, Brazil)에 있는 공공 상수도 위생회사인 사나사(SANASA)와 함께 시작했다. 캄피나스 지역은 지난 10년 동안 7번의 가뭄을 겪었으며, 피라시카바(Piracicaba), 카피바리(Capivari), 준디아이(Jundiai) 등 강 유역에 위치해 있다. PCJ 강 유역은 이 지역 물의 70% 이상을 공급하고, 특히 상파울루를 지원하고 있다. 3사는 이번 프로젝트를 통해 물손실을 효과적으로 줄이기 위해 협력할 수 있다.

사나사 프로젝트는 네트워크 효율성을 개선하기 위해 타카두(TaKaDu)를 기반으로 한 오르비아의 물네트워크관리(Water Network Management, WNM) 서비스를 사용하고 있다. WNM은 누수, 운영 장애, 데이터 문제 등 네트워크 이슈를 탐지하고 분석해 관리하는 데 도움이 되는 클라우드 기반 솔루션이다. 

엘리자 로버츠(Eliza Roberts) 마이크로소프트 수자원 책임자는 "우리가 운영하는 지역의 물스트레스를 해결하는 데 중요한 역할을 보여주고 있다고 믿는다"며 "물은 공동의 접근방식이 필요한 우리 모두의 과제인 만큼 오르비아 및 사나사와 협력해 상파울루의 물손실을 줄이기 위해 공공 및 민간 부문 파트너의 참여를 장려하는 물프로젝트를 지원할 수 있기를 기대한다"고 말했다.

마누엘리토 마갈하이스(Manuelito Magalhães Júnior) 사나사 사장은 "우리의 비전은 브라질 전역에서 공유할 수 있는 지속 가능한 물관리의 리더이자 벤치마크가 되는 것"이라며 "혁신적인 파트너십을 통해 제공되는 최첨단 기술을 사용해 비즈니스의 다양한 영역에서 운영 효율성을 높일 수 있도록 지원할 계획"이라고 밝혔다.

Orbia and Microsoft Launch First Water Replenishment Project in Brazil

 

BOSTON, September 4, 2024 – The Orbia Advance Corporation S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV: ORBIA*) Building & Infrastructure business Wavin announced its agreement with Microsoft to tackle water stress and promote water resilience worldwide. Orbia will support Microsoft in making progress against its target to replenish more than it consumes by 2030 via various water-positive projects using Orbia Building & Infrastructure (Wavin) solutions for cities and urban environments.

The first project as part of this agreement has been initiated with SANASA, a public water supply and sanitation company in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil. The Campinas region has gone through seven droughts in the last decade, and is located in the watershed of the rivers Piracicaba, Capivari and Jundiaí (PCJ watershed). As the PCJ river basin supplies more than 70% of the region’s water, most notably supporting São Paulo, the project enables Orbia, Microsoft and SANASA to work together to reduce water losses effectively.

The SANASA project uses Orbia’s Water Network Management (WNM) service, powered by TaKaDu, to improve network efficiency. WNM is a cloud-based solution that helps utilities to detect, analyze and manage network events and incidents including leaks, bursts, faulty assets, operational failures, telemetry and data issues. WNM is complemented with a central control room operated by Orbia water engineers.
