애너지아(Anaergia)는 10월 21일(현지시각) 자회사인 애너지아 테크놀로지스(Anaergia Technologies, LLC)가 미국 캘리포니아(California)주 리버사이드(Riverside)와 장비 공급 계약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

이 계약에 따라 '리버사이드 수질 관리 플랜트(Riverside Water Quality Control Plant, RWQCP)'에서 지역 고형폐기물 수거 업체로부터 유기 폐기물을 처리할 수 있는 인프라가 설치될 예정이다. 이러한 폐기물은 매립지가 아니라 RWQCP의 혐기성 소화조에서 처리돼 재생 가능한 천연가스(RNG)로 전환될 수 있다.

약 1천330만 캐나다 달러에 달하는 이 계약은 캘리포니아 자원 재활용 복구청(California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, CalRecycle)의 지원을 받아 캘리포니아주 유기 폐기물 재활용 인프라 성장을 가속화할 것이다.

에드 필라델피아(Ed Filadelfia) 캘리포니아주 리버사이드 공공사업부 부국장은 "이번 인프라를 추가하면 리버사이드가 유기 폐기물 재활용에 대한 캘리포니아의 SB 1383 규정을 충족하는 동시에 비용을 절감하고 환경 관리를 강화할 수 있다"며 "이는 리버사이드의 탄소발자국을 줄이고 회복탄력성을 개선하고 비용을 절감하기 위한 중요한 단계"라고 말했다.

아사프 온(Asaf Onn) 애너지아 최고경영자(CEO)는 "이번 인프라는 리버사이드가 탄소발자국을 줄이는 동시에 인프라를 개선하고 유기 폐기물 재활용에 대한 요구사항을 충족하는 데 도움이 될 것"이라며 "이 프로젝트는 정부의 지원을 받아 폐수처리장을 개선하기 위해 노력하는 애너지아의 성공 모델을 지속 이어가는 것"이라고 강조했다.

Anaergia’s Organic Waste Receiving Infrastructure for RNG Production to Be Provided to the City of Riverside, California

 

CARLSBAD, Calif. & BURLINGTON, Ontario--Anaergia Inc. (“Anaergia”, the “Company”, “us”, or “our”) (TSX: ANRG), announced today that its subsidiary, Anaergia Technologies, LLC (“Anaergia Technologies”), has entered into an equipment supply contract with the City of Riverside, California, to install infrastructure at the Riverside Water Quality Control Plant (“RWQCP”) to enable reception of organic municipal waste from local solid waste collection companies. Consequently, such waste would be diverted from landfills and sent to the RWQCP’s anaerobic digestors to be converted into renewable natural gas (“RNG”).

This contract, for approximately C$13.3 million, is supported by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (“CalRecycle”) to accelerate the growth of California’s organic waste recycling infrastructure. Under the terms of a separate contract with the City of Riverside announced in August 2024, Anaergia Technologies is also upgrading the RWQCP’s anaerobic digestion system.

“Adding this infrastructure will enable the City of Riverside to enhance our environmental stewardship while meeting California’s SB 1383 regulations for organic waste recycling, and reducing costs,” said Ed Filadelfia, Deputy Director of Public Works for the City of Riverside. “This is another important step in our efforts to further reduce our municipality’s carbon footprint, improve resiliency, and reduce costs,” added Mr. Filadelfia.

“Providing this infrastructure supports the City of Riverside in reducing its carbon footprint while improving infrastructure and meeting organic waste recycling requirements,” said Assaf Onn, Anaergia’s CEO. “This project continues Anaergia’s successful and repeatable model of retrofitting municipal wastewater treatment plants with our technology that leverages growing RNG demand backed by government incentives,” added Mr. Onn.
