중국 최초 SUBRE 업그레이드로 시설 설치 공간 늘리지 않고 시설 용량 확장

플루언스 코퍼레이션(Fluence Corporation)은 첫 SUBRE MABR(Membrane Aerated Biofilm Reactor ; 막 폭기 생물막 반응기) 업그레이드 계약을 수주했다. 중국 안후이성 하수처리장 수용능력을 기존 12만5천 명에서 16만7천 명으로 늘리기 위한 것으로 신규 고객사인 안후이 케후안 환경엔지니어링주식회사(Anhui Kehuan Environmental Engineering Co., LTD ; Anhui Kehuan)와의 첫 프로젝트다.

배수 품질은 ‘클래스 1A(Class 1A)’로 유지된다. 이 장치(unit)는 3월에 현장으로 인도되어 2022년 2분기 중 설치 및 시운전될 예정이다. 중국에서의 첫 번째 SUBRE 업그레이드는 중국에서 16개의 SUBRE 그린필드 도입에 성공한 후 이루어진다.

현재 5개년 계획에서는 중국 정부의 정보에 기초하여 1억6천만 명을 위한 플랜트 업그레이드를 포함한 하수처리 능력을 추가하는 것을 목표로 하고 있으며, 이 중 약 75%는 재사용이 가능하도록 업그레이드 및 확장된 처리를 목표로 하고 있으며, 따라서 ‘클래스 1A’ 처리가 필요하다.

재사용 대상은 처리 하·폐수의 25%에서 35%까지 다양하여 물의 스트레스를 완화한다. 이 계획은 또한 MABR이 이상적인 에너지 절약, 저탄소 프로세스를 강조하고 있다.

■ 플루언스의 SUBRE MABR 기술(SUBRE MABR technology of fluence) 소개

플루언스의 SUBRE는 막 폭기 생물막 반응기(MABR) 모듈을 사용하여 하수처리장을 업그레이드한다. SUBRE는 2천∼10만㎥/일(0.5∼22MGD) 용량의 기존 유역을 업그레이드하거나 엄격한 영양 규정을 충족하기 위해 하·폐수 품질을 개선하도록 설계되었다.

특히, SUBRE는 △더 많은 유입을 수용하기 위해 증가된 처리 용량 △하수 내 총질소(T-N) 및 총인(T-P) 감소(생물학적 영양소 제거) △에너지 중립 치료를 향한 진행 △SUBRE 업그레이드에서 최대 4개 레벨의 MABR 모듈 타워가 WWTP의 무산소 구역에 잠긴다(무산소 구역이 없는 완전히 폭기된 원자로에서는 분리 벽의 건설이 필요함).

설치가 용이한 MABR 모듈은 에너지 효율적이고 비용 효율적이며 동시 질화-탈질화로 인해 높은 하·폐수 품질을 보장한다. SUBRE 타워는 1.5m∼6m(5∼20피트) 깊이의 수조에 설치하기에 적합하다. 타워는 분지 바닥에 고정되어 있으며 별도의 저압, 저유량 송풍기에 의해 폭기된다. 거친 기포 확산기는 부유 바이오매스의 주기적 혼합에 사용됩니다(가능한 경우 기존 통기 송풍기 활용).

개조는 한 번에 하나의 세면대에서 최소한의 중단으로 수행할 수 있다. 1주에서 3주 사이에 개선된 하·폐수 품질 또는 용량 증가, 플랜트의 전체 에너지 사용량 최대 30% 감소 등의 결과가 나타난다. 그리고 SUBRE는 운영비용을 크게 절약할 수 있다.

Fluence Corporation has secured its first SUBRE MABR upgrade contract. This is designed to increase wastewater treatment plant capacity from 125,000 people to 167,000 people in Anhui province and is the first project with new customer Anhui Kehuan Environmental Engineering Co., LTD (“Anhui Kehuan”). 

Effluent quality will be maintained at Class 1A. The units are schedule to be delivered to site this month and installed and commissioned during Q2 2022. First SUBRE upgrade in China follows 16 successful SUBRE greenfield deployments in China.

Based on China government information, the current 5 Year Plan targets adding wastewater treatment capacity including plant upgrades serving 160 million people with approximately 75% of this targeting upgraded and expanded treatment to enable reuse and therefore requiring Class 1A treatment. 

Reuse targets vary from 25% to 35% of treated wastewater to alleviate water stress. The Plan also emphasizes energy saving, low carbon processes for which MABR is ideal.

About SUBRE MABR technology of fluence

SUBRE upgrades wastewater plants using membrane aerated biofilm reactor (MABR) modules. SUBRE is designed to upgrade existing basins with capacities of 2,000-100,000 m³/d (0.5-22 MGD) or improve effluent qualities to meet stringent nutrient regulations.

SUBRE enables:

- Increased treatment capacity to accommodate higher inflows

- Reduced TN and TP in effluent water (biological nutrient removal)

- Progress toward energy-neutral treatment

- In a SUBRE upgrade, towers of up to four levels of MABR modules are submerged in the anoxic zone of the WWTP (in a fully aerated reactor with no anoxic zone, construction of a separating wall will be required).

Easy-to-install MABR modules are energy-efficient and cost-effective, and ensure high effluent quality due to simultaneous nitrification-denitrification. The SUBRE towers are suitable for installation in basins ranging from 1.5 m to 6 m (5-20 feet) deep. The towers are anchored to the basin floor and are aerated by a separate low-pressure, low-flow blower. Coarse bubble diffusers are used for periodic mixing of the suspended biomass (utilizing existing aeration blowers if possible).

The retrofit can be performed with minimal interruption, one basin at a time. Results seen in one to three weeks include an improved effluent quality or increased capacity, and up to a 30% decrease in the plant's overall energy use. And, SUBRE will greatly save on operational expenses.
