[미국] 노스 캐리 워터, 뛰어난 하·폐수 처리 성능 인정받아

미국 노스 캐롤라이나의 노스 캐리 워터 레클러메이션 퍼실리티(North Cary Water Reclamation Facility)가 하·폐수 처리 시설의 시스템 운영을 최적화하여 환경 수질 보존을  유도하기 위해 미국 수도협회(AWWA)와 제휴하여 개발한 프로그램인 '클린 워터 퍼 파아트너십(Clean Water for Partnership)'으로부터 상를 수상했다. 

North Cary Water Reclamation Facility는 프로그램의 성과를 성공적으로 달성한 공로로 이 상을 수상하게 되었다.

이 상은 하·폐수처리 시설 운영 및 성과에 대한 포괄적인 평가, 성과 제한 요인 파악 및 실행 계획 개발을 포함하는 단계인 청정 수자원 프로그램의 자체 평가 및 동료 심사 단계를 완료함으로써 달성되었다.

하·폐수 처리 시설은 파트너십에 의해 존경을 받고 안전한 물에 전념하는 세계 최대 규모의 가장 오래된 전 세계적인 조직인 미국 수도협회(United Water Work Association)의 연례 회의에서 인정된다.

노스 캐리 유틸리티 이사인 제이미 리벨스(Jamie Revels)는 "우리는 이 상을 수상하게 된 것을 영광으로 생각한다"라면서 "우리 유틸리티의 목표는 운영 최적화 및 시민 서비스의 질 향상을 위해 지속적으로 노력하는 것이다. 협회장상을 수여하면 탁월한 하·폐수 처리를 제공함으로써 환경보호에 대한 우리의 지속적인 의지를 입증할 수 있다"라고 말했다.

 Clean Water를 위한 파트너십은 하·폐수처리장 운영을 위한 자발적인 자체 평가 및 최적화 프로그램이다. 60명 이상의 유틸리티 가입자가 폐수 처리 시스템 운영을 최적화하고 하·폐수 처리 분야에서 탁월한 운영을 달성함으로써 공중보건을 보호한다는 파트너십의 목표에 전념한다. 

파트너십 회원은 하·폐수 시설 최적화 전문가가 개발 한 엄격한 다단계자가 평가 및 동료 평가 프로세스에 참여하며 지역 사회의 공중 보건을 지키려는 노력에 대해 인정받고 있다.

Local Wastewater Utility Receives Recognition Award For Outstanding Performance

The North Cary Water Reclamation Facility in Cary, North Carolina, received the Directors Award from the Partnership for Clean Water, a program developed by AWWA and associated Partner organizations to guide wastewater treatment facilities toward preserving environmental water quality by optimizing system operations. The North Cary Water Reclamation Facility was presented this award for successfully achieving the program’s Directors Award level of performance.

The Directors Award was achieved by completing the self-assessment and peer review phase of the Partnership for Clean Water program, a phase which includes comprehensive evaluation of wastewater treatment plant operations and performance, identification of performance-limiting factors and the development of action plans to achieve optimization. The wastewater facility is honored by the Partnership and will be recognized at the annual conference of the American Water Works Association, the largest and oldest worldwide organization dedicated to safe water.

“We are honored to receive this award,” said Jamie Revels, utilities director, “Our utility’s goal is to continually strive to optimize operations and improve the quality of utility services to our citizens. Achieving the Directors Award demonstrates our ongoing commitment to protecting the environment by providing exceptional wastewater treatment.”

The Partnership for Clean Water is a voluntary self-assessment and optimization program for wastewater treatment plant operations. More than 60 utility subscribers are committed to the Partnership’s goals of protecting public health by optimizing wastewater system operations and achieving operational excellence in wastewater treatment. Partnership members participate in a rigorous multi-phase self-assessment and peer review process, developed by wastewater utility optimization experts, and are recognized for their commitment to protecting public health for their communities.
