프랑스의 수자원 및 폐기물 처리업체인 수에즈(Suez)는 중국의 SINOMACH-CMEC를 대신하여 사하라 사막 이남 아프리카 최대의 식수원 중 하나인 카메룬(Cameroonian) 수도 야운데(Yaounde)에 정수처리시설을 건설하고 있다.

 

수에즈(SUEZ)는 4,300만 유로에 달하는 이 계약에는 사나가(Sanaga) 강에서 원수를 취수하여 36개월 동안 정수처리시설을 짓고, 펌프장과 정수처리된 물을 야운데(Yaounde)로 이송하는 작업이 포함된다. 이 프로젝트는 중국의 수출입은행 및 카메룬 정부에 의해 650억 유로가 넘는 더 규모가 크고 구조적인 프로젝트의 범위 내에 있다.

 

이 프로젝트는 오늘날 인구가 300만 명에 달하는 야운데(Yaounde) 인구의 급수 수요에 대응하고 수도 도시의 경제발전을 지원할 것이다. 연간 30만㎥의 생산 능력을 자랑하는 이 회사는 사하라 사막 이남 아프리카 지역에서 가장 큰 식수 생산 시설 중 하나이다.

 

수에즈(SUEZ)는 처리 시설에 대한 엔지니어링 연구 수행, 장비 제공, 공장의 조립 및 시운전 감독을 담당하게 된다.  수에즈 그룹은 또한 카메룬 인력 교육에 대한 책임도 진다. 

 

이 정수시설은 풀사튜브(Pulsatube)TM 및 아쿠아즈르(Aquazur) V와 같은 데그레몽(degremont) 기술을 통합할 예정이며, 이 제품은 처리되지 않은 물의 품질 및 유속에 관계없이 생산된 우수한 품질의 물을 보장한다.

 

수에즈(SUEZ)의 마리 앙제 데본(Marie-Ange Debon) 국제부문담당 그룹 부회장은 “우리는 카메룬 정부, SINOMACH-CMEC 및 중국수출은행과의 파트너십을 통해 야운데(Yaounde) 주민들의 식수 수요에 가장 잘 부합하는 기술적, 재정적인 솔루션을 제공하게 되어 자랑스럽게 생각한다”고 말했다. 

 

마리 앙제 데본(Marie-Ange Debon) 부회장은 이어 “이 프로젝트는 아프리카 그룹에 중요한 단계이며, 급속도로 증가하는 인구가 식수 및 위생 시설에 접근 할 수 있도록 효과적인 솔루션을 개발하는 데 있어서 아프리카 도시를 지원하는 우리의 전략과 일치한다”면서 “따라서 SUEZ는 아코미아다(Akomiada)에 하루 10만㎥ 식수생산시설 및 아프리카의 유망한 시장에 식수생산 및 정수처리 시설을 건설한 카메룬에서 그 입지를 더욱 공고히 하고 있다”고 강조했다. 

 

수에즈(SUEZ)는 1952년 브라자빌(Brazzaville)에 있는 라 주조(La Djoue) 수처리 설비를 건설한 이래 나이로비, 와가 두구, 다르 에스 살람 바마코 등 아프리카 대륙에서 500 개가 넘는 식수 및 위생시설을 건설해 왔다.

French firm Suez builds mega water production plant in Cameroon

French engineering giant SUEZ has secured a contract to construct a mega water production plant in Cameroon, one of its largest drinking water plants in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The project is being carried in the capital Yaounde on behalf of Chinese firm SINOMACH-CMEC.

 

The contract, worth €43m, includes pumping of raw water into the river Sanaga, the building of the plant for over a 36-month period, the pumping stations and the transfer of the treated water to Yaounde.

 

This operation will be financed by Eximbank of China and by the Cameroonian government within the scope of a larger and structuring project of over €650m.

The water production plant in Cameroon seeks to respond to the drinking water needs of the fast-growing population of Yaounde, which today has nearly 3 million inhabitants, and will support the capital city’s economic development.

 

With a capacity of 300,000 m3/day, it will be one of the largest drinking water production plants built by the Group in Sub-Saharan Africa.

SUEZ will be in charge of carrying out the engineering studies on the treatment plant, providing equipment, and supervising the assembly and commissioning of the plant. The Group will also be responsible for training the Cameroonian personnel.

 

The water production plant in Cameroon will integrate degremont technologies such as Pulsatube and Aquazur, as these products guarantee excellent quality of the water produced, regardless of the quality and flow rate of the untreated water.

 

“We are proud of this partnership with the Cameroonian authorities, SINOMACH-CMEC and Eximbank of China in order to provide a technical and financial solution that best responds to the drinking water needs of the residents of Yaounde,” said Marie-Ange Debon , Group Deputy CEO in charge of International segment.

 

“This project is a significant step forwards for the Group in Africa, and is in line with our strategy to support African cities in developing effective solutions to ensure their fast-growing populations have access to drinking water and sanitation,” she added.

 

SUEZ is thus strengthening its presence in Cameroon, where it has built the drinking water production plant in Akomiada (100,000 m3/day), and in Africa, a promising market for the Group.

 

Present on the continent since the construction of the La Djoue water treatment plant in Brazzaville in 1952, SUEZ has since built more than 500 drinking water and sanitation facilities, and continues to serve many of Africa’s capital cities, including Nairobi, Ouagadougou, Dar Es Salaam and Bamako.
