[트래버스시티] CH2M과 폐수처리 계약 갱신

미시간(Michigan) 주의 트래버스시티(Traverse City)가 최근 CH2M과의 5년 계약 만료로 지역 내 폐수처리공장에 대한 운영 및 관리 계약을 갱신했다.

이번에 이뤄진 파트너십 재체결은 도시 위원회에서 6대 1로 투표한 결과로, 그랜드트래버스만(Grand Traverse Bay)의 수질을 향상시키고 트래버스시티의 독특한 생활의 질을 유지시키는 등 CH2M과 도시와의 26년간 협력 성공 스토리를 확장한다는 데 의의가 있다.

CH2M은 도시의 폐수처리시설 운영을 담당할 뿐만 아니라 펌프장, 8개의 타운십 오토샘플러(township autosampler) 등을 관리 및 운영하고 있다. 또 CH2M은 북아메리카 최대 규모 및 최신식의 시설을 작업할 때 처리 시스템에 MBR(membrane bioreator) 공법을 추가하는 등 약 320만 달러를 투자해 시설을 업그레이드하기도 했다.

트래버스시티의 지역 내 폐수처리공장은 약 5만 명의 거주자 포함, 지역 산업 종사자들에게 물을 공급하고 있다.

1932년에 지어진 이래 하루당 약 850만 갤런 규모의 시설이 여러 번에 걸쳐 업그레이드되어 왔으며, 현재 보다 향상된 멤브레인 정화 기술을 통해 고품질의 처리수를 생산해 내고 있다.

CH2M과 트래버스시티는 생산적인 파트너십을 지속해 오면서 에너지 저감 및 화학적 소비 감소, 비용 절약 등의 효과를 내고 있다.

Traverse City, Mich., renews $2.5M wastewater treatment contract with CH2M

The City of Traverse City, Michigan, recently approved a 5-year contract renewal with CH2M for operations and maintenance of the Traverse City Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The City Commission voted 6 to 1 to renew this important partnership, extending a 26-year success story throughout which CH2M and the city have collaborated to improve water quality in Grand Traverse Bay, and help maintain Traverse City's unique quality of life.

CH2M operates the city's wastewater treatment facility in addition to maintaining and operating the city's lift stations and eight township autosamplers. The CH2M team also guided the city through a $32 million upgrade that added a membrane bioreactor to the treatment system --- at the time of its construction it was the largest and most advanced of its kind in North America. CH2M will see the city through the membrane replacement process over the next four years.

"CH2M has provided long-standing quality services. We are in the midst of a significant replacement process of the filtering process, and CH2M has the experience and know-how to implement it," said City Manager Marty Colburn.

Traverse City's Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant serves 50,000 residents, plus local industries. Originally built in 1932, the 8.5-million-gallon-per-day facility has been upgraded several times, and now employs advanced membrane filtration technology to produce high-quality treated effluent that helps sustain public and environmental health.

CH2M and Traverse City have enjoyed a productive partnership, resulting in reduced energy and chemical consumption, cost savings, awards including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency IPP Excellence Award, the Michigan Water Environmental Association Health and Safety Award, industry firsts and ongoing community support.
