[미국] 플로리다, 싱크홀 탓에 지역 대수층 안으로 방사선 물 새어

대략 2만1천500만 갤런의 방사선 물이 대수층을 위협하는, 플로리다 멀버리(Mulberry)에 위치한 비료 공장에서 생겨난 거대한 싱크홀 안으로 새어나갔다.

abc뉴스에 따르면, 비료회사 Mosiac은 싱크홀이 약 45피트 너비 및 800피트 높이라고 밝혔다.

그 대수층은 수백만 지역 주민들의 식수원이며, 휴식을 위해 플로리다 주민들이 이용하는 샘으로 흐른 것이다.

FLORIDA SINKHOLE LEAKS RADIOACTIVE WATER INTO LOCAL AQUIFER

About 215 million gallons of radioactive water has been leaked into a massive sinkhole that opened at a fertilizer plant in Mulberry, Fla, threatening the state aquifer. According to abc news, Fertilizer company Mosiac said the sinkhole is about 45-feet wide and 800-feet deep.

The aquifer is the source of drinking water for millions of local residents and empties into springs that Floridians use for recreation.

The fertilizer company says they are taking measures to contain the drainage, and no signs that the contaminated water has made it to local wells have been reported.
