타지키스탄공화국(Republic of Tajikistan)과 유엔경제사무국(UNDESA, United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs)이 오는 8월 9일 타지키스탄공화국 수도인 두산베(Dushanbe)에서 ‘지속가능한 물관리’를 주제로 심포지엄을 개최할 예정이다.

타지키스탄은 유엔(UN)이 실시하는 ‘2030 지속가능개발의제(2030 Agenda)’를 채택해, 다양한 분야의 지속 가능한 발전 목표(sustainable development goal, SDG) 중 수자원 분야의 SDG인 ‘안전한 식수 및 위생(SDG6) 보장을 위해 노력할 계획이다.

이번 심포지엄에는 75여개 국가의 정부 및 기업체 물 전문가들이 참석해 통합적 수자원 관리에 대한 최고의 방안에 대해 공유 및 논의할 계획이다.

심포지엄은 또한 UN ‘2030 지속가능개발의제’의 목표 중 하나인 물부족과 수질오염에 대해 솔직하게 말하며 국제적인 협력과 담수화, 물 재이용 기술 등을 비롯해 수자원 전문가들의 역량을 배양하는 기회가 될 것으로 기대를 모으고 있다.

Tajikistan to host symposium on best practice in water management

The Republic of Tajikistan and the United Nations department of economic and social affairs are running a symposium on sustainable water management on 9 August, in Tajik's capital city, Dushanbe, reports Tehran Times.

Tajikinstan is adopting the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including a sustainable development goal on water (SGD 6), whose target is to ensure safe drinking water and sanitation.

Water experts in government and business from 75 countries are poised to participate, and to share best practice on integrated water resource management.

Among the aims of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are tackling water scarcity and water pollution, and expanding international co-operation and capacity-building expertise into developing countries, in fields including desalination, and water reuse technology.
