[영국] 세번트렌트, 빗물 수집·습지 개선을 위해 지역사회에 4천900파운드 지원

세번 트렌트(Severn Trent)는 월솔(Walsall)에 빗물을 수집하고 근접하게 개선하기 위해 4천900파운드의 전압을 지원해야 합니다.

레인 아베뉴 & 무어사이드 커뮤니티 올로케이션(Lane Avenue & Moorside Community Allocations)은 지속 가능한 방식으로 연간 물사용량의 축소 이상을 수집하기 위해 세번 트렌트의 커뮤니티 펀드에 자금 지원을 신청했습니다.

생태 보호는 SLINC(Local Important to Nature Conservation)이며, 커뮤니티 그룹은 이전에 사용이 안전하지 않았음을 알았던 경로를 사용하는 것을 포함하여 공간의 발견을 개선하는 것을 목표로 합니다. 이번 개선으로 지역 학교 지역 주민들은 이 을 다시 이용하고 즐길 수 있는 길이가 길어지고, 찾아와 버거 트러스트가 이 공간을 통해 얻을 수 있게 될 것으로 기대된다.

이 단체의 5개년 계획의 일환으로, 그들은 또한 왜가리, 오리, 킹피셔와 같은 야생동물을 유치하기를 희망하면서, 5개년 계획에 걸쳐 근처의 수영장과 습지를 개선함으로써 야생동물에게 더 친숙한 땅을 만들기를 희망한다.

레인 아베뉴 & 무어사이드 커뮤니티 올로케이션의 위원회 위원인 레이 레드샘스미스(Ray Ledsam-Smith)는 "우리는 세번 트렌트의 보조금에 정말 감사하며, 우리의 부지 전체에 걸쳐 3개의 지역에서 물을 수확할 수 있다. 물은 귀중한 자원이고 100개의 토지에 도움이 될 것이기 때문에 환경적으로 큰 영향을 미칠 것"이라면서 "이 지역에 대한 개선은 지역 야생동물뿐만 아니라 안전 관점에서 모든 사람들에게 이익이 될 것"이라고 말했다.

세번 트렌트 커뮤니티 펀드 책임자인 나탈리 커닝햄(Natalie Cunningham)은 다음과 같이 말했다: "이 프로젝트는 땅 소유주에게 이익이 될 빗물 수집부터 지역 야생동물을 끌어들일 근처 습지 개선에 이르기까지, 거대한 환경적 이점을 가질 수 있는 멋진 프로젝트이다. 이 작업에는 그룹이 정말 자랑스러워해야 할 많은 측면이 있다"고 말했다.

세번 트렌트의 지역사회 기금은 지역사회 단체와 지역사회 복지 향상을 목표로 하는 프로젝트를 위해 만들어졌다:

Walsall allotments and nearby wetland to benefit from Severn Trent Community Fund grant 

 

One of the largest allotments in Walsall has been handed a £4,900 grant from Severn Trent to harvest rainwater and make improvements to a nearby wetland. 

Lane Avenue and Moorside Community Allotments applied for funding from the water company’s Community Fund to collect more than half of their yearly water usage in a sustainable way. 

An adjoining piece of land is a Site of Local Importance to Nature Conservation (SLINC), and the community group aims to make safety improvements to the space, including bringing into use a toe path that had previously been deemed unsafe to use. It is hoped the improvements will pave the way for local schools to use and enjoy the area again, and help the Canal and River Trust to have access to the canal running through the space. 

As part of the group’s five year plan, they hope to also make the land friendlier to wildlife by improving the pools and wetland nearby over a five year plan, hoping to attract wildlife such as herons, ducks and kingfishers.  

Ray Ledsam-Smith, Committee Member at Lane Avenue & Moorside Community Allotments, said: “We’re really grateful for the grant from Severn Trent that will allow us to harvest water at three areas across our site – it will have a great impact environmentally as water is a valuable resource and will hopefully benefit 100 plots. The Moorside SLINC had seen better days, we call it Jurassic Park, so the improvements that will be made to the area will benefit everyone from a safety perspective, as well as local wildlife.” 

Natalie Cunningham, Severn Trent Community Fund Officer, said: “This is a wonderful project that will have huge environmental benefits – from rainwater harvesting that will benefit plot owners to improvements to a nearby wetland that will attract local wildlife, there’s so many aspects of this work that the group should be really proud of.
